IMPLANTS – simpler than you think to replace teeth

Implants with Dr Jen Turner

Jen says: “With implants becoming ever more popular as a choice for replacing missing teeth, we at The Village Dental Practice are here to help you make the best decision for you as to how you can achieve the smile that you’ve always wanted.

Whether your motivation is to improve how you eat, how you look, or to improve upon your existing replacement teeth, we look holistically at your whole mouth to offer solutions that will bring back comfort and confidence to your smile.”

The Implant Process

Treatment is always preceded by a thorough examination of your whole mouth and all dental structures. It is exceptionally important that the planning is comprehensive and not confined to the immediate problem but offers a long-term strategy for continued dental health. This may mean that alerting you to potential future problems in your mouth that do not need treating now, but may cause problems in the future. Sometimes it will be best for you to treat these if and when problems arise, but sometimes proactively treating them in conjunction with your initial dental problem, provides a better overall result.

You are in control. We listen, we advise, you choose.

When explained to you clearly you are always fully informed and aware of potential future options to eliminate as far as possible any unwelcome surprises. (Teeth always seem to play up when you have something important coming up, right?)

Implants are used to replace natural teeth and are probably best thought of as a metal root that a crown, bridge or denture is attached to. If you have only one or two teeth missing, single crowns or short span bridges are a great alternative to conventional bridges that anchor to natural teeth, damaging the natural teeth or putting them under unnecessary stresses. Multiple teeth can be supported by only a few implants, even up to full arch replacement. Implants can also be used to stabilise removable dentures, revolutionising the experience of wearing dentures from the wobbling, unstable and sliding lumps of plastic in to stable, retentive and comfortable whole arch replacements.

With such a wide range of clinical scenarios and techniques our aim at Village Dental is to match the best solution for you as a patient with the best clinician for the job. Therefore, for the most complex cases we may ask local colleagues to provide some or all of your treatment. Jen also works with highly experienced implant mentors as part of further clinical examinations and training so may plan cases or perform some surgical cases with mentors in attendance where the complexity of case dictates.

Your Investment

Your implants are a very long-term investment in your dental health, confidence and personal aesthetics.

We use clinically proven, high quality implant systems and follow the latest protocols and techniques that ensure that the success and longevity of your implants is absolutely optimal. We use Osstem and Straumann implant system, both of which are titanium, a premium, successful material that is widely used in orthopaedic surgery due to its biocompatibility and strength.

There are maintenance commitments to implant treatment, mainly annual reviews of the implant which are often combined with your routine check-ups, plus regular hygiene visits so our lovely and talented hygienist can assist you in keeping you gums around the implants healthy and reduce risk of long-term failures.

Fees

As a guide an initial consultation is £90 and replacing a single tooth with an implant and crowned would be from £3,000.
